GI test a success

Lila successfully passed her upper GI test this morning. I knew she would, but it’s reassuring to know that everything is anatomically correct. We still can’t figure out why Lila will only eat when she’s sleeping. The past few days, she’s gotten better, but she still has trouble getting into a rhythm when she’s awake. The most she’ll take awake is one ounce and it’s a struggle with lots of starts and stops. At least she’s not yelling at the bottle like she was before. I’m hopeful she’ll grow out of this, but in the meantime, I’ll follow-up with the feeding clinic at Children’s and I’ve also asked an occupational therapist to come to the house and work with us.

The nurses fed her first while she was lying on the table and that didn’t go so well. She wouldn’t latch on and suck, so they had to squeeze the barium into her mouth. She was able to swallow enough for the doctor to see the flow of the liquid into her stomach. Finally, I finished feeding her and she did pretty good.

Perfect little patient. She was a little champion and didn’t cry once.

She acted as though she’d been handled by surgical gloves a million times. Oh, wait …

It was an early morning for everyone and we were happy to head home. Remember this hat?

Here we are in the Starz Cafe at Children’s, the place I ate lunch at for 10 weeks while Lila was in the hospital. We were hoping to find some of Lila’s nurses taking a break, but no such luck.
